KING COUNTY, WA — A 39-year-old man was killed Tuesday night in a wrong-way crash involving two other cars on State Route 18 in Auburn’s Lea Hill neighborhood, reports Washington State Patrol.

The events unfolded near Southeast 304th Street shortly after 4:50 p.m.

According to WSP, the man was behind the wheel of a black Toyota Scion going eastbound in the westbound lanes when he collided with the front left of a Toyota Tundra pickup truck. The driver of the Tundra was able to pull over to the left shoulder and call 911.

The Scion continued the wrong-way on the eastbound lanes and collided with a Dodge Dakota pickup truck, which sent the Scion into a ditch along the left shoulder. The Dodge came to a stop in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the Scion was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to authorities.

The driver of the Dodge suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, while the driver of the Tundra was evaluated at the scene.

Crews partially closed the highway in both directions until about 9:00 p.m.

No further information has been released on the cause of the accident.
