AUBURN, WA — A 51-year-old woman died Thursday after being injured in a single-vehicle accident on state Route 18 eastbound in Auburn, according to KIRO 7 News.

Washington State Patrol said the woman was driving eastbound on SR-18 near the state Route 167 merge when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a right-side barrier, causing the vehicle to veer across the road and strike the left-side barrier.

She was transported by airlift to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

No conclusive information has been reported about what led to the crash, but police currently suspect drugs and alcohol played a role.

WSP troopers reported the woman was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the incident.

An investigation is underway.
