Vantage, Washington – Car Driver Injured After Colliding with Truck near Vantage Bridge

Vantage, Washington (November 20, 2019) – A car driver sustained a hand injury after colliding with a semi truck on westbound Interstate 90 west of Vantage Bridge on Wednesday morning. The impact caused the car to veer off the roadway, stopping short of falling over a cliff with an estimated 75 foot drop. The driver was later taken to a hospital in Ellensburg for treatment. No other injuries were reported in the incident.

According to a report from the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. The car was on the westbound lane when it struck the back of a semi truck. The cause of the crash is not yet known, but it appears to a case of distracted driving.

In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
