OLYMPIA, WA – A suspect has been arrested in connection with three “suspicious” fires set Monday, according to Olympia Fire Department investigators.
King 5 News reported that the 22-year-old suspect was arrested Monday after a series of fires broke out in the same neighborhood in about an hour. The fires were set at two apartment complexes and one church. Fire investigators tie the suspect to the church fire and the fire at Fern Crest Apartments.
According to King 5, the entire first floor of Hidden Creek Community Church was destroyed, along with thousands of dollars worth of food in their food bank. Most of the units of Fern Crest Apartments were destroyed in the fire, displacing 20 residents, and costing the complex $400,000 in damage.
All of the fires remain under further investigation, as officials still do not understand the suspect’s motive.
