ORONDO, WA. – Two people were killed and several others were injured in a three-vehicle crash on Highway 97 approximately four miles north of Orondo on Sunday.

The crash occurred shortly before 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, according to NCWLIFE. Washington State Patrol officials confirmed that the accident occurred when 29-year-old Luis Florespinzon crossed the center line in his Chevrolet Astrovan and hit a northbound Ford F-150 head-on. Florespinzon and his passenger, 31-year-old Luis Leveronrodriguez of Seattle, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Six other passengers in the van were transported to Central Washington Hospital for immediate medical treatment. The two occupants of the pickup were also injured in the crash, as well as three others in a GMC Sierra that hit the pickup in a chain-reaction crash. The Ford truck was towing a camper and the GMC Sierra was towing a boat at the time of the collision, and both became detached due to the force of the crash.

The collision forced authorities to close the highway between Wenatchee and Chelan for several hours. Vehicles were rerouted onto Highway 97A until the scene was cleared.
