SNOQUALMIE PASS, WA – A Washington State Patrol trooper was struck and injured while responding to a call in Snoqualmie Pass on Sunday morning, KING 5 reports.

Trooper Rick Johnson, the PIO for WSP’s District 2, says that the incident occurred at about 9 a.m. on March 21, near milepost 51 on eastbound I-90. The trooper was dealing with an abandoned vehicle that was found facing the wrong way on the interstate when the driver of a pickup truck lost control of his vehicle and collided with the trooper’s SUV. Emergency responders transported the trooper to a nearby hospital with neck, back and ankle injuries. That individual’s identity and current condition have not been made public.

The truck’s driver also suffered arm injuries.

Motorists in the area could expect delays of about half an hour as the crash was investigated and cleared.
