Three hurt in multi-vehicle collision near Tacoma’s Excelsior area

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — Three people were sent to area hospitals Monday evening after a multi-vehicle accident in south Tacoma’s Excelsior area, reports FOX 13 Seattle.

Tacoma Fire Department said the crash happened at the intersection of Yakima Avenue and South 59th Street shortly before 9:47 p.m.

Crews were called to the scene after receiving a report of two passengers trapped in their vehicles.

After the occupants were safely extricated from the wreck, they were transported to local hospitals along with another victim. Authorities have not released information detailing the extent of their injuries.

Photos shared by Tacoma Fire show severe damage to all three involved vehicles.

Yakima Avenue was closed to traffic during the response but reopened at around 10:12 p.m.
