JEFFERSON COUNTY, WA — Three people were injured Thursday morning in a single-vehicle rollover accident on U.S. Highway 101 near Brinnon, reports Peninsula Daily.

Washington State Patrol said the collision occurred near milepost 302 at around 8:53 a.m.

An 80-year-old woman was behind the wheel of a 2006 Ford Escape when she lost control of the vehicle at a curve in the road. The Ford hit the side of a hill, rolled onto its side, and slid across the roadway for about 100 feet.

One passenger, a 60-year-old man, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. The severity of his condition has not been disclosed.

The driver was taken to Tacoma’s St. Joseph Medical Center, and a 69-year-old female passenger was transported to Jefferson Healthcare in Port Townsend.

WSP indicated high speed and wet weather conditions contributed to the accident. No impairment was suspected.

A section of the highway was shut down for several hours during the response.
