Sleepy driver topples tractor-trailer on I-5 in Lakewood
Request Free ConsultationLAKEWOOD, WA – A tractor-trailer crashed and overturned on Interstate 5 north after the driver fell asleep in Lakewood overnight on Wednesday.
State Trooper Robert Reyer reported that the vehicle overturned in the northbound lanes near Berkeley Street Southwest shortly after midnight. After the driver fell asleep, the truck struck a cement barrier and attenuator then toppled on its side.
The driver escaped serious injuries.
The northbound lanes were completely blocked by the tipped truck. Traffic was detoured around the area for hours Wednesday morning.
