Shoreline, Washington – Two People Injured in Collision with Speeding Truck

Shoreline, Washington (March 28, 2019) – Two drivers of separate vehicles received minor injuries when a speeding truck collided with their cars. They were taken to the hospital for treatment. The first crash was reported to have happened at North 190th Street and Aurora Avenue North when the truck collided with a car, causing the latter vehicle to flip onto its side. The truck then hit another vehicle as well as a fire hydrant, after which the driver seems to have fled the area on foot.

The incident began on Thursday evening in Edmonds when police were in pursuit of a truck for reckless driving. At one point, Edmonds police ended their pursuit, but the truck continued traveling south in Shoreline. Police are still looking for the male suspect. As a result of the crash, all lanes in Aurora Avenue between the 192nd Street and 186th Street were closed.

Specifically, trucks can weigh 20-30 times more than passenger cars, and their height and greater ground clearance can cause smaller vehicles to be more easily toppled in car-truck accidents. Consequently, studies have proven that most deaths in large truck accidents are passenger vehicle occupants, who are more vulnerable in case of collision. Regardless of which vehicle you are driving, one must always exercise caution on the road. With both cars and trucks, drivers must be responsible for making sure their vehicle is in a good condition and not prone to vehicle failure, and to always consider the road and weather conditions.
