SEATTLE, WA – A retired traffic officer was injured after being struck by a driver multiple times in the Madison Valley area yesterday morning, according to the Seattle Police Department.

The incident occurred in the 3000 block of MLK Jr. Way S at 9:26 a.m., as a retired traffic officer was directing traffic near a construction site.

After witnessing a driver who was reportedly driving recklessly multiple times through the area, the officer attempted to stop the driver from coming through with the use of traffic cones. The driver then struck the officer multiple times with his vehicle, causing minor leg injuries.

A witness nearby broke the vehicle’s rear window after seeing the assault. The driver then fled the scene.

He was later found at his home, and from there, was taken into police custody on assault charges.
