One killed in early-morning I-5 collision in Everett

EVERETT, WA – At least one person was killed in a fatal two-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 5 near State Route 529 on Monday morning.
We’re investigating a collision SB I-5 in North Everett. Traffic is being diverted off of I-5 onto SR 529 (Exit 198). I just arrived on scene, working on getting updates. RO

KOMO News and Washington State Trooper Axtman reported that the accident blocked all southbound lanes of I-5 in the area while police investigated. First responders arrived on the scene at around 5:45 a.m. According to a tweet from Axtman, the road was not reopened until 9:30 a.m.
Long delays are anticipated while crews investigate and clear the scene.
