TACOMA, WA — One person was hospitalized Monday evening after a Pierce Transit bus crashed through the yard of a residence in Tacoma’s Lincoln International District, according to KOMO News.

Tacoma firefighters responded to the scene near the intersection of South 37th Street and South Thompson Avenue bordering Lincoln Park. The crash was first reported by Tacoma Fire at 8:49 p.m.

Little information has been reported at this time, but authorities said the bus had swerved while attempting to avoid driving into the path of a pickup truck.

Following the incident, four people were evaluated by medics and one person, whose condition was stable, was transported to a nearby hospital. It has not been disclosed whether or not the injured person was a passenger on the bus or in the truck.

An investigation into the cause of the crash remains underway.
