SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — Nine people suffered injuries Sunday afternoon in a collision involving three vehicles on U.S. Highway 2 near Monroe, according to KOMO News.

Washington State Patrol troopers and medics were dispatched to the scene where US-2 intersects with Sofie Road at around 3:25 p.m.

Authorities learned that a Toyota traveling northbound on Sofie Road had attempted to make a left turn onto Highway 2 without yielding to traffic, forcing a pickup truck to strike it. The Toyota came to rest in the roadway but the impact caused the pickup truck to run into eastbound traffic and crash head-on with a Honda. The Honda overturned and the pickup truck came to a stop on the highway’s shoulder.

Seven of the nine people injured had to be hospitalized while the two others were treated on scene. Their injuries range from minor to very serious, with victims falling between 8 to 86 years of age. Their conditions have not been released.

State troopers have said criminal charges won’t likely be issued in the accident, but that the causing driving will most likely receive a ticket for a failure to yield.
