Chelsea Hodgson, a public information officer for the State Troopers, reported the fire at 5:51 p.m. Monday. The brush fire spread into the center median of SR 16, and crews shut down the eastbound lane to fight it. Westbound lanes remained open.
All lanes of SR 16 reopened by 7:30 p.m. Monday night. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
