Motorcyclist dies following collision in Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, WA – A motorcyclist has died as the result of a fiery collision in Skagit County late last night, KOMO News reports.
Washington State Patrol and fire units were called to State Route 9 near West Big Lake Boulevard shortly after 10 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6. They believe the unidentified motorcyclist had been traveling south on SR-9 when he crossed the center lane, ran off the left side of the roadway, and crashed into a tree with enough force that the motorcycle burst into flames.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Further investigations are ongoing.
