MARYSVILLE, WA – Drivers were backed up for miles behind a multi-vehicle accident scene on Interstate 5 in the Marysville area on Friday morning.
According to WSDOT, the accident happened in the southbound lanes near State Route 528 just before 7 a.m. Multiple vehicles were involved.
The accident was initially blocking all three southbound lanes and drivers were navigating around the scene on the shoulder. When authorities arrived, they were able to reduce the number of closed lanes to two righthand ones.
The area was reopened at 10:30 a.m. but by that time cars were stacked up three miles back. It took about an hour for traffic to begin flowing smoothly again.
There is no word on whether anyone was injured in the crash.
On I-5 northbound just north of Mercer St there is an incident blocking the right lane.
