TACOMA, WA – A man waiting at a Tacoma bus stop this afternoon suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by an allegedly intoxicated driver, according to KOMO News.

The accident happened in the 4400 block of E Portland Ave, near E 46th St and E 44th S, when a 24-year-old driver drove over a curb and collided with the victim, sitting at a bus stop.

The victim, a 51-year-old man, was taken to a local hospital for the treatment of severe, life-threatening injuries.

The driver is facing charges of DUI in connection with the accident.

Neither the victim nor the driver was identified in the report.

Authorities have closed part of Portland Ave for the investigation of the incident.
