SNOHOMISH COUNTY, WA — A man was seriously injured Wednesday night when his pickup truck slammed into a concrete pillar on an I-5 offramp in Mountlake Terrace, reports KOMO News.

Washington State Patrol said the incident occurred at 236th Street Southwest at about 10:45 p.m.

The man was behind the wheel of a 2001 Ford Ranger when, for reasons still being investigated, he drove onto a far-left onramp reserved for buses and collided head-on with the pillar at the Mountlake Terrace Bus Loading Station.

Authorities said the man, who was alone in the pickup, was transported to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The Ford Ranger was totaled in the accident and had to be towed from the scene.

The offramp was closed for an investigation.
