Man hit, critically hurt by suspected DUI driver in downtown Puyallup

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A man in his 30s was hospitalized Saturday night after being struck by a vehicle near an intersection in downtown Puyallup, reports KOMO News.

The incident occurred near the corner of South Meridian and East Meeker at around 11:00 p.m.

According to Puyallup Police, a 62-year-old woman was driving south on South Meridian and approaching the intersection when she hit the male pedestrian.

Few details have been released, but the victim suffered critical injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital.

Responding officers took the driver into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.

An investigation remains ongoing.
