The suspect is 30-year-old Peter Garrido, an employee of the Seattle Police Department. On the day of the incident, Garrido pulled onto the shoulder of highway I-5 behind the car he was harassing. When the driver of the other car exited their vehicle to approach Garrido, Garrido pulled a handgun and shot the victim in the abdomen. Garrido then sped away in his 2013 Mazda.
First responders transferred the victim to the Harborview Medical Center, where they are in stable condition.
At 5:40 today, detectives arrested Garrido at his residence in Bellevue and may be charged with first-degree assault.
