PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 9-year-old girl suffered serious injuries Monday evening in a boating accident on Lake Tapps in Pierce County, according to Q13 FOX Seattle.
The incident occurred when another person operating a nearby boat snagged the towline of the girl’s inner tube, forcing the line to snap and causing the girl to strike the side of the boat.
The girl was transported to a hospital where she underwent surgery to treat lacerations to her face and injuries on her cheek and orbital bones. As of Thursday, she was reported still recovering at the hospital.
The causing motorist, who initially stopped to check on the girl immediately after the accident, had fled the scene but later came forward and was cooperating with authorities.
