Fire in homeless encampment burns area near S Burlington
Request Free ConsultationTACOMA, WA – Tacoma Fire responded to a fire that started in a homeless encampment near the 4800 block of S Burlington Way on Thursday afternoon.
The fire appears to have started in a homeless encampment. Debris, tires and possibly a vehicle are still burning. Crews are working to contain the outer brush and grass fires and then will focus on the debris pile. pic.twitter.com/vDvN3HJbMH

It is not clear what sparked the fire, but S Burlington Way was blocked between S 56th St and S 50th St while crews worked to extinguish it.
No injuries were reported. As of 4:45 p.m., firefighters had the blaze under control and confirmed that no buildings were threatened.
