Everett, Washington – Collision on the I-5

Everett, Washington (April 8, 2019) – A two-vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 5 just south of State Route 529 blocked two left lanes. The collision appeared to be a rear-impact collision between two vehicles. No one was reported injured in the incident, and circumstances of he crash are unknown. A report from the Washington State Department of Transportation has stated that the wreckage was coon cleared up.

About Vehicle Accidents

Vehicle accidents are common and may happen more frequently than you think. In 2017, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  have reported a total of 120, 993 car accidents. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal ad 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries. This particular accident is a case of rear-end collision, also said to be the most common type of car accident. Like many other vehicle accidents, rear-end collisions often happen because of lapse of attention, usually when one vehicle follows another too closely. Injuries associated with rear-end collisions are neck injuries, particularly whiplash as the impact usually jerks the upper body forward. Wrist fractures are also said to be a common side-effect as victims instinctively use their arms and hands to brace their impact, causing the force of the crash to be directed at the wrist. Other serious injuries include broken bones, head and spinal injuries.

Keeping in mind that the geography  in Seattle is fairly mountainous, and that surrounding water has created for a road situation which includes many tunnels, bridges, hills and narrow roads, there are many locations with the potential for car accidents. We urge all drivers to practice caution while out on the streets. It would help to identify busy roads and try to avoid being in their proximity to minimize any risk of a vehicle accident. Any mistake can lead to injuries and damage not only to your person, but on other people as well.
