DUI driver arrested after fleeing injury accident on SR-3 in Belfair

MASON COUNTY, WA — A 22-year-old man was arrested early Monday for his role in a two-vehicle crash that injured another man on State Route 3 near Belfair, reports iFiberone.

The collision occurred on a stretch of SR-3 just north of Northeast Squire Lane.

An investigation indicates the young man was driving northbound on the highway when his vehicle drifted past the center line and collided with a vehicle in the southbound lanes.

The driver of the victim vehicle, a 50-year-old Seabeck man, suffered undisclosed injuries.

The causing driver, who also sustained injuries, fled the scene but was later detained by police.

Authorities said the suspect displayed signs of impairment at the scene and was eventually charged with DUI and vehicular assault.
