MILTON, WA – A drunk driver collided with a utility pole on SR-99 early this morning, bringing down power lines and blocking traffic in the area.
KOMO News reports that the accident happened at about 5 a.m. Friday, on SR-99 near the border of Pierce and King Counties. A driver lost control of their vehicle, which went down an embankment and collided with the power pole. Police detained that individual on suspicion of driving while intoxicated.
The incident closed traffic in both directions, and the Washington State Patrol advised motorists to use I-5 or another alternate route instead.
It is unclear whether power in the area was affected.
