PIERCE COUNTY, WA — The driver of a semi-truck was killed early Tuesday in a single-vehicle collision on Interstate 5 in Tacoma, according to KIRO 7 News.
The accident happened on a stretch of I-5 northbound just before the Portland Avenue exit, not far from Emerald Queen Casino.
Tacoma Fire crews arrived to find the truck’s cab fully engulfed in flames.
No details have been reported on a possible cause of the crash. However, authorities say the semi had slammed into a freeway barrier, killing the driver at the scene.
An investigation into the accident will be conducted by the Washington State Patrol.
All lanes were reopened to morning commuters shortly before 7:30 a.m.
