Crews respond to crash on SR-539 in Whatcom County
Request Free ConsultationWHATCOM COUNTY, WA — Emergency crews responded to a collision Thursday morning on state Route 539 near the Laurel neighborhood of north Bellingham, according to Washington State Department of Transportation.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes of SR-539 at Axton Road, or milepost 5, and was first reported at 8:53 a.m.
At one point during the incident response, up to three lanes, including two left lanes and a right lane, were blocked off.
A traffic photo shared by WSDOT shows at least one fire truck and one police cruiser at the scene. It is not immediately clear how many vehicles were involved in the crash, or if any injuries were sustained.
No further information has been reported.
