Child fatally struck by vehicle in parking lot near Tacoma’s Eastside

PIERCE COUNTY, WA — A 2-year-old boy died Thursday after being hit by a car while running in a parking lot near Tacoma’s Eastside area, reports KIRO 7 News.

Tacoma police said the fatal incident occurred in the 2000 block of East 56th Street at about 4:00 p.m.

It was not immediately clear what led up to the crash, but authorities said a car was traveling through the lot when the toddler darted out between two cars and was hit by one vehicle.

The boy was rushed to an area hospital in serious condition and later died from his injuries, confirmed Tacoma police.

No further information has been disclosed at this time, but authorities have determined no drugs or alcohol contributed to the event. No arrests or charges have been reported as of this writing.
