Everett, Washington (December 31, 2019) – A suspect driving a stolen vehicle rammed a deputy’s vehicle before fleeing the wrong way on Interstate 5 on Tuesday evening. Fortunately no further crashes have been reported after the suspect fled on the Interstate 5, and no injuries have been reported in the incident. However, the suspect remains on the loose.

According to the report from KIRO7, deputies from the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office initially saw a stolen BMW on 128th Street Southeast. Here, the suspect rammed a deputy’s car before going south on the northbound lanes of the Interstate 5. As pursuit became too dangerous the chase was called off, but the vehicle wa slater spotted again at a weight station. Before the suspect could be pulled over he drove the wrong way on the Interstate 5 again and was last reported heading west on 164th Street Southwest. The suspect’s vehicle is reported to be a stolen dark green/blue BMW with the Washington plate BMF-4406, missing its front bumper. Anyone who has information on this case is encouraged to contact law enforcement.

About Vehicle Accidents

While this particular incident contains a criminal element, it is important to note that accidents of other causes can also result in damage or injuries. In 2017, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  have reported a total of 120, 993 car accidents. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal and 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries. These injuries are quite dangerous as most of them are head, spine or neck-related, including spinal injuries, brain injuries, paralysis, broken bones, and whiplash. Similarly, victims of side collisions and rollover collisions also suffer may also suffer head and neck injuries, though the risk is lower in these types of collisions. In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
