47-year-old pedestrian killed by tractor-trailer on SR-18

KING COUNTY, WA – A 47-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a tractor-trailer on State Route 18 in Auburn before daylight on Monday morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the pedestrian was wearing all black and walking on westbound SR-18 near 304th when a truck struck him from behind at about 3:23 a.m.
The truck driver, a Gig Harbor man, pulled his truck over and called 911.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have identified him as Benjamin Heide of Yakima.
The truck driver was not injured and is not facing charges for the accident.
