SEATTLE, WA – Two residents and a firefighter were injured after a fire broke out at an apartment building in the 500 block of Boylston Avenue on Monday, according to the city government.

The Seattle Fire Department arrived at the scene shortly after 11:33 a.m. on February 15. A ladder was used to pull two residents from fourth-floor windows, while firefighters rescued a 30-year-old male and a 20-year-old female from inside the building. Both of these individuals were transported to medical facilities in stable condition.

A firefighter also received minor injuries in the rescue. All told, 60 SFD units from five engines and three ladders responded to the incident, which investigators determined had been caused by food left unattended on a stove. They estimate that damages will cost $70,000 to repair.
