12 crashes involving 31 vehicles shut down I-5 in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD, WA – Interstate 5 southbound just south of State Route 512 was shut down Thursday while Washington State Patrol investigated 12 accidents involving 31 vehicles.
South I-5, milepost 125. Multi car collision, possibly 8! Roadway blocked. Traffic is getting through on the shoulder. No reports of injuries at this time.

According to WSP Trooper Ryan Burke, there were no injuries in these accidents. Burke reported via Twitter that he was on the scene of one of the accidents at 3:36 p.m. Thursday.
Burke said the accidents were cleared up by 6:17 p.m.
