Soap Lake, Washington – Three People Injured in Crash at State Route 28

Soap Lake, Washington (March 5, 2020) – Three people were injured in a two-car collision that occurred on State Route 28 at Stratford Road on Thursday afternoon. According to the article from 560 KPQ News Radio, two people from the causing vehicle, Robert Bird and Sharon Bird from Electric city, were injured. Robert Bird was airlifted to Central Washington Hospital in critical condition, while Sharon Bird was transported to Samaritan Hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Seth Williams, had minor injuries and did not require hospitalization, but a passenger from his vehicle was taken to Columbia Basin Hospital.

According to information from the Washington State Patrol, the collision occurred 10 miles east of Soap Lake. Fire and aid, along with Washington State Patrol responded to the incident. The causing vehicle driven by Robert Bird, was stopped at a stop sign at Stratford Road off State Route 28. The other vehicle, driven by Williams, was headed eastbound on State Route 28. Bird’s vehicle entered the highway and struck the other vehicle at the intersection. The crash caused the roadway to be fully blocked for roughly three hours.

In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
