Massive sinkhole closes I-82 eastbound lanes

ZILLAH, WA – A major sinkhole consumed a portion of the I-82 median in Zillah, WA, Wednesday morning, shutting down eastbound lanes.

There were no injuries reported, but the sinkhole necessitated a detour at Exit 54 along SR 22, then SR 223 and US 97, according to KIMA.
Zillah is 20 miles east of Yakima. Crews are working to determine what caused the sinkhole and to repair damage to the highway.
