Man on motor scooter fatally struck by driver making U-turn in W Seattle

SEATTLE, WA – A man riding a motorized scooter was killed after being struck by a driver in West Seattle yesterday afternoon, according to the Seattle Police Department.
The accident happened in the 4500 block of Beach Drive SW at about 3:20 p.m., when the driver of a sedan attempted to make a U-turn.
A 61-year-old man operating a motorized scooter tried to evade the vehicle, but was unable to do so, and the two collided.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, died at the scene despite the attempts of bystanders to resuscitate him.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
