Crews clean up rock slides blocking North Cascades Highway

ROCKPORT, WA – Cleanup crews have begun repairing roadways partially destroyed by rock slides that occurred June 11.
Clean-up and repair work of series of rockslides blocking both lanes on State Route 20/North Cascades Highway started today, and will require the existing detour to remain in place until further notice. There are exceptions for emergency vehicles.

Journalist Tracy Taylor tweeted Monday that the rockslides are currently blocking both lanes of the highway and that drivers will need to continue abiding by the detour.
The two rock slides occurred Wednesday, June 11, around 8 p.m. They both occurred near Shular Road in Rockport, according to KOMO News.
The rock slides did not cause any injuries.
