Yakima Police investigate drunk driving crash that injured two

YAKIMA, WA – Two people were injured after a suspected drunk driver ran a stop sign and hit their vehicle at the intersection of 40th Ave and Chestnut Ave on Sunday afternoon.

According to News Talk KIT, police responded to the accident around 5:30 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police the driver of a BMW was speeding and ran a stop sign before hitting a Chevrolet Avalanche, which had two adults and three small children inside.

The driver of the Chevy sustained minor injuries and first responders transported the passenger to Harborview Medical Center with injuries. A 4-year old and two 3-month old babies in the backseat were not injured.

The BMW driver, an unidentified 26-year-old man, was booked into Yakima County Jail and charged with DUI.
