Woman injured when driver hits cement ball at Tacoma Target

TACOMA, WA – A pedestrian was injured when a reckless driver struck and unloosed a red cement ball from in front of a Tacoma Target on Sunday afternoon.

According to The News Tribune, a 33-year-old woman was speeding through the area when she struck one of the large cement balls in front of the Target on South 23rd Street at about 1:15 p.m. The ball came loose from its steel post and struck a woman, as well as one of the building’s pillars.

The woman was transported to the hospital with injuries to her head and hip.

The woman was taken into custody and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license, reckless endangerment, and vehicular assault. Authorities said that the suspect appeared confused and reported that she had not slept and taken methamphetamine the previous day.

She is being held in an area jail.
