EPHRATA, WA – A woman is dead and two men are in custody following a police chase in eastern Washington, KOMO News reports.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office says the chase began at about 2:30 a.m. yesterday morning, when an Ephrata police officer responded to reports of a suspicious person in the Swanson Addition neighborhood. That officer gave pursuit after a suspect jump in a car and then fled town at a high rate of speed.

The chase continued south on Dodson Road, where the suspect lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a residential yard. A man got out of the vehicle and ran away on foot, while a woman was found dead in the vehicle. It is not clear which of the two had been driving.

Police apprehended two men in the area and took them in for questioning. Their investigation appears to be ongoing.
