Woman causes head-on crash passing truck near Royal City

GRANT COUNTY, WA – A head-on car accident on State Route 26 outside of Royal City took the life of a 70-year-old woman on Wednesday evening.

According to a local news report, the 70-year-old woman pulled out and around a tractor-trailer on SR-26 and slammed into an oncoming vehicle about 3 miles from Royal City around 8:20 p.m.

The woman, Marcella Gulick, was killed in the accident.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 20-year-old from Royal City, was taken by helicopter to Central Washington Hospital. From there he was airlifted againt to Harborview Medical Center.

The cause of the accident is listed as “unsafe passing.”
