Komo News reports that the accident occurred at approximately 1:15 p.m. on June 7. A Chevrolet AstroVan crashed into the driver’s side of a Ford F-150 when the vehicle crossed the centerline on Highway 97 just north of Orondo. The Ford then crashed into a GMC Sierra. At the time of the collision, the Sierra was towing a boat and the Ford was towing a camper. Both of these vehicles in-tow were detached during the accident.

Officers from the Washington State Patrol pronounced the AstroVan’s driver, Luis Florespinzon, 29, and one of the passengers, Luis Leveronrodriguez, 31, dead on the scene of the accident. Six other people in the AstroVan sustained injuries in the accident and were transported to Central Washington Hospital for treatment. The police reported that only two of the eight people in the AstroVan were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Two people in their 70’s driving in the Ford were injured in the collision. A 72-year-old driver and two passengers in the GMC also sustained injuries. All of these crash victims were transported to Central Washington Hospital. However, the police have not released any information about the severity of the occupants’ injuries.

Officials blocked traffic on Highway 97 for several hours after the accident, forcing cars to take a detour off the highway.
