PUYALLUP, WA – The man who caused a car accident that killed a 31-year-old woman in Puyallup on Sunday was apparently under the influence of drugs at the time and did not realize he had been in an accident, KOMO News reports.

Prosecutors say 31-year-old Pierce R.L. Pearson was traveling roughly 100 miles per hour in a 35 mph zone when he struck an SUV at the intersection 128th Street East and Canyon Road at about 11 a.m. The force of the collision flipped Pearson’s vehicle onto the top of the SUV. Its driver, Nina Fournier, died at the scene. The 31-year-old Puyallup mother had been driving home from Starbucks at the time.

Before being taken to the hospital with minor injuries, Pearson told responding police officers that he had been driving since Saturday and wanted to prove that he was God. He disavowed any knowledge of the accident, and later said he had taken heroin the night before.

Pearson was scheduled to make his first court appearance yesterday.
