SILVERDALE, WA – A Washington State Trooper was injured Friday after colliding head-on with a wrong-way driver on State Route 3.

The Trooper, Jessica Schob, suffered minor injuries, according to King 5.

Schob was responding to calls about a wrong-way driver on SR 3 and put herself in danger’s way attempting to intercept the driver. Schob’s vehicle and the suspect’s white sedan veered off the road after colliding.

The wrong-way driver was a 39-year-old woman from Quilcene, who was uninjured in the collision.

Witnesses said Trooper Schob helped slow traffic and move vehicles off the road, knowing that the wrong-way driver was near.

“That trooper went out of her way to make sure that car couldn’t go any further and took the hit,” one witness told King 5. “We’re talking a couple of seconds and that would have been me going 70 miles an hour head on into that lady.”

The Quilcene woman, whose name has not yet been released, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

This story will be updated as more details become available.
