Two killed in head-on crash with commercial truck on US-2 near Monroe

Washington State Patrol said the fatal crash happened at Sofie Road shortly before 1:00 p.m.
A preliminary investigation indicates an SUV was traveling westbound on the highway when it drifted past the center line and struck the truck head-on.
Troopers confirmed two occupants in the SUV were pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.
The event caused a section of the highway to close for multiple hours between Fern Bluff in Sultan and Old Owen in Monroe.
An investigation into the accident was underway.
