PORT ORCHARD, WA — Two drivers were hospitalized Sunday afternoon after a wrong way crash on SR 16 near Port Orchard, according to King 5.

Prior to the crash, witnesses called authorities to report a sedan traveling west in the eastbound lanes along the highway as the vehicle approached Wollochet Drive north of Gig Harbor, said troopers with the Washington State Patrol.

The sedan ultimately collided with a pickup truck close to SR 16 eastbound and the Mullenix Road onramp.

The drivers of the sedan and the pickup truck both sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

SR 16 eastbound was partially closed to accommodate an investigation. As of 6:30 p.m. Sunday evening, the highway has reopened.
