Tumtum, Washington – One Person Seriously Injured in Hit-and-Run

Tum Tum, Washington (January 23, 2020) – Update: One person was reported to have been injured in a hit and run crash that occurred on State Route 291 that occurred southwest of Tumtum. According to the report from The Spokesman-Review, one driver sustained serious injuries. In an article released on January 24, 2020, the patient has been identified as John Mulledore, and he was taken to Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center for treatment. He was listed ins serious condition as of Friday afternoon.

The crash was first reported around 2:45 on Thursday afternoon. According to the article released on January 24, 2020, Jordan Blain-Rohtchild was driving a van on the road and struck the mirror of Mulledore’s Nissan pickup. Mulledore then followed Rothchild’s vehicle and attempted to block the van. When Mulledore left his vehicle, Rothchild struck him and pinned him in the vehicle. Rothchild left the scene, but was later stopped by deputies from the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office. Rothchild is reported to be facing charges of hit-and-run assault. The  incident caused the partially blockage of State Route 291 while the Washington State Patrol was conducting an investigation.

In 2017, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT)  have reported a total of 120, 993 car accidents. Of those accidents, 525 were fatal and 34, 311 were possible or suspected of injuries. Similarly, victims of side collisions and rollover collisions also suffer may also suffer head and neck injuries, though the risk is lower in these types of collisions. In rollover collisions, the car will come to rest on its side or roof, resulting in a dangerous situation which passengers might need to be extricated from. In side collisions, the greatest risk comes to the passenger on the particular side that received the impact. No matter the type of accident, all crashes are bound to cause a dreadful situation for all involved.
