Tukwila, Washington (March 12, 2020) – A deputy was injured when his vehicle was struck by a cement truck that had exited southbound Interstate 5 at Interurban Avenue South on Thursday. According to the article from KOMO News, both the deputy and the truck driver were taken to Harborview Medical Center. The deputy was treated for a broken leg, while the truck driver was evaluated and later arrested for investigation of vehicular assault and impaired driving.

According to information from the Washington State Patrol, the crash occurred just after 10 a.m. The cement truck, which was carrying 105, 000 pounds of powdered cement, exited the Interstate 5 too fast and went into oncoming traffic, colliding with the deputy’s vehicle. The collision caused both vehicles to crash into a traffic light pole, which was then knocked over. The accident caused the road to be blocked due to the downed traffic light.
