Traffic Update: All lanes of I-5 closed between Fife, Federal Way

FIFE, WA – A construction project on Interstate 5 will close all lanes of the highway between Fife and Federal Way on Friday and Saturday nights this weekend.

According to KOMO News, the lanes will close at 8 p.m. and will not reopen until noon the following day. This could cause major traffic backups throughout the area.

Transportation officials recommend that people traveling between Olympia and Seattle on these nights take SR-18, SR-167, and SR-512 instead of I-5 while construction is underway.

The construction project, known as the 70th Avenue Bridge project, will finish the completion of SR-167. It will add two more lanes to the bridge and an expanded bike path and pedestrian walkway.
