TACOMA, WA – A Tacoma police officer pulled a motorist from his vehicle after it collided with gas pump and caught fire yesterday.

According to a series of tweets sent from the department’s official Twitter account, the incident began sometime before 3:45 p.m., when a motorist drove out of a Burger King parking lot, hit an SUV, and continued south on 38th Street. The vehicle then drove into a gas station in the street’s 3000 block, where it collided with a gas pump and a third vehicle. The at-fault vehicle then caught fire, and its driver was pulled out by a responding police officer. That individual was placed under arrest for suspected DUI.

A woman and a 7-year-old child and who had been in the third vehicle were not hurt.
